Peaceful drive into the mountains, with a stop for lunch at Martin Speck (a bistro/deli) where we’re far enough north in Italy that the menus and signs start to be in Italian and German! The architecture of the homes is noticeably different as well. We were in the area just ahead of the Olympic games so Olympic signs everywhere! Trentino and the surrounding area hosted several Nordic and ice sports events and part of the opening ceremony was held in a piazza we walked through on our trip!
First time skiing – can’t ask for a better place than the dolomites! Any ski day needs to start with a Bombardino (a drink that will definitely help keep you warm!) and you really work up an appetite skiing so thank goodness for delicious food! Day 1 was foggy and snowy, day 2 was clear, both were magical at 2000m!
